who is Andrew Wildman anyway?
For as long as I can remember I have been drawing. And, with determination and hard work I became one of the lucky ones who have managed to make a living as an artist. I have had the distinct pleasure of working in comics, games and TV on some amazing projects. Some of those were childhood dreams come true. Drawing Spider-man, and X-Men comics for Marvel as well as a number of their other books. Working as a storyboard artist for TV on shows such as Doctor Who and many other amazing things. I have also had the distinct honour of being a significant part of the Transformers universe with many comics and art projects along with appearances at conventions all over the world. But for me there is more to do...
I am returning to my love of art and choosing to draw and paint the things that inspire me. Some of that will be paintings of some of the characters that I have worked on. Some will be original ideas that express something else. When you begin the process of drawing it is then that you see how everything is connected at a fundamental level. The first lines and shades of a drawing that express the human figure are the same as the branches of a tree, the billow of a cloud, the flow of a fabric or the shapes of a sea hewn rock. And that is something worth exploring whether it is as paint on canvas or graphite on paper.
On this website I will be sharing thoughts and images about the work and the processes involved and then expanding on those in an occasional email newsletter. So if you want to share in the journey just hit that little button below.
